SVRF High-Waisted Leggings

The bit that goes under everything else. High-rise, ankle-length leggings in a smooth nylon-spandex knit, for the walk down to check it, a stretch in the car park while you wait for the tide to turn, or under the Sweater Dress on the drive home.

A wide waistband that stays put, a contoured seam across the back, and SVRF running down the back of the calf. That's it. They're not thermals and they're not pretending to be.

THE FIT

Close to the body from waist to ankle, with a high rise and a wide flat waistband. The measurements below are taken flat and unstretched, and the fabric gives a long way past them, so go by your hip. If you're between sizes, take the larger for less compression. S to XL.

• 215gsm / 6.3 oz, a lightweight stretch knit

LOOKING AFTER IT

Wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle, inside out. Tumble low or hang dry. Don't iron over the print, don't bleach, don't dry clean, and skip the fabric softener — it's what kills the stretch.
