Fit Guide

SVRF · Fit guide

Every blank we print on, with the measurements, and where we have them, photos of it worn from the front, side and back. So you know what's turning up before the postman does.

The photos are shot in our maker's stock colours, so the colour you see may not be the one you're buying. The shape will be. Where our maker lists the model's height and the size they're wearing, it's under the photo.

Tees

Two very different shapes. One is big and boxy on purpose. The other is small and fitted on purpose.

Unisex · S–3XL

The heavyweight tee

260gsm, 100% cotton. Oversized and boxy, with dropped shoulders and a wide body.

Used on: Core Tee · Forecast Tee · Ballpoint Tee in white and black · Big Logo Tee DarkSide and LightSide

Women's · S–2XL

The baby tee

240gsm, 100% cotton. Fitted through the body, short enough to sit at the waistband.

Used on: Fin Baby Tee

Same size, different shirt

Side by side: the oversized heavyweight tee in brown and the fitted baby tee in charcoal, both worn by female models

Left: heavyweight tee. Right: baby tee.

The heavyweight tee hangs off the shoulder and finishes around the hip. The baby tee sits on the shoulder, follows the body and stops at the top of your jeans. Neither one is a mistake. Just know which one you're ordering.

Tees · 01 · The heavyweight tee

Oversized, dropped shoulder, 260gsm

Thick enough that it hangs straight instead of clinging, and keeps its shape after a winter of being pulled over a wet head. The shoulder seam sits down on the upper arm, which is what gives it the boxy shape.

260gsm heavyweight tee in navy on a male model: front, side, back three-quarter and back views

Model: 185cm / 6'1", wearing L. Front, side, back three-quarter, back.

260gsm heavyweight tee in brown on a female model: front, side, back three-quarter and back views

Model: 172cm / 5'8", wearing S. Front, side, back three-quarter, back.

Measurements (cm, garment laid flat)

Size S M L XL 2XL 3XL
Length 67.5 69.5 72 74.5 76.5 78
Chest (half) 50 52.5 55 57.5 60 62.5
Shoulder 48 50.5 53 55.5 58 60.5
Sleeve 21.5 22 22.5 23 23.5 24

Choosing a size: take your usual size for the relaxed, boxy look the photos show. Size down one for something closer to a regular fit. If you usually wear women's sizes, size down one for an oversized fit.

Tees · 02 · The baby tee

Fitted, short body, 240gsm

A proper fitted tee rather than a shrunken one. Set-in sleeves that sit on the shoulder, a body that follows you rather than squeezing, and a hem that lands at the waistband of a high-rise jean.

240gsm fitted baby tee in charcoal on a female model: front, side, back three-quarter and back views

Model: 172cm / 5'8", wearing S. Front, side, back three-quarter, back.

Shoulder 34.7 36 37.3 38.6 39.9
Sleeve 15.5 16 16.5 17 17.5

Choosing a size: take your usual size for a close fit. Size up one if you want a little more room through the chest or a bit more length.

Long sleeve

Boxy and heavy, and it comes up small. Read the sizing note before you order.

Long sleeve · 01 · The Embroidered Longsleeve Tee

Boxy, ribbed cuff, 270gsm

Heavy cotton that drapes rather than clings, a slightly dropped shoulder, a wide ribbed collar and ribbed cuffs that keep the sleeves where you push them. Embroidered Longsleeve Tee

On a man. Front, side, three-quarter, back.

Longsleeve tee blank in black on a female model: front, side and back views

On a woman. Front, side, back.

Measurements (cm, garment laid flat)

Length 71 74 77 80
Chest (half) 52 56 60 64
Shoulder 46 51 55 60
Sleeve 57 60 62 64

Choosing a size: this one comes up small, so take one size above your normal, and if you're between sizes, take the bigger one. It starts at M. If you usually wear women's sizes, your usual size will give you a relaxed fit like the one in the photos.

Hoodies

Two hoods, and the difference is mostly width. The Core Hood is relaxed. The Big Logo Hood is properly roomy.

Unisex · S–3XL

The Core Hood

420gsm cotton-rich fleece. Regular through the body, dropped at the shoulder, front patch pocket.

Core Hood

Unisex · S–2XL

The Big Logo Hood

385gsm brushed-back fleece. Loose and wide, dropped shoulder, lined hood, kangaroo pocket.

Dark colourways · Light colourway

Size for size, the Big Logo Hood is 8cm wider across the chest than the Core Hood (16cm all the way round), with a slightly longer sleeve. Length is almost the same. If you're between the two, that extra width is the whole decision.

Hoodies · 01 · The Core Hood

Relaxed, dropped shoulder, 420gsm

The one that lives in the boot. Roomy enough to go over a tee and a base layer without swimming on you, with the shoulder seam sitting just off the shoulder.

Shoulder 55 57 59 61 63 65
Sleeve 56 57 58 59 60 61

Choosing a size: take your usual size, or size up if you want it slouchy or you're pulling it over a fleece. If you usually wear women's sizes, size down one for a relaxed fit like the one in the photos.

Hoodies · 02 · The Big Logo Hood

Loose, wide, dropped shoulder, 385gsm

Cut loose on purpose, for putting on the second the wetsuit comes off. Wide through the body, sits just below the waist, and the sleeves are long enough to pull down over cold hands.

Big Logo Hood blank in black on a male model: front and three-quarter views

Model: 187cm / 6'2", wearing XL. Front and three-quarter views. Our maker doesn't have a back shot of this one yet.

Crews

No fit photos for these yet, so the measurements and the notes below will have to do the talking.

Crews · 01 · The Pocket Crew

Loose, dropped shoulder, 380gsm

Cut loose with a dropped shoulder and a chest patch pocket. It's a touch narrower than the Core Hood size for size, about the same length, and it's the only piece in the range that starts at XS. Pocket Crew

Measurements (cm, garment laid flat)

Size XS S M L XL 2XL
Length 65.5 67.5 69.5 71.5 73.5 75.5
Chest (half) 56 58 60 62 64 66
Shoulder 54.5 56 57.5 59 60.5 62
Sleeve 55.5 56.5 57.5 58.5 59.5 60.5

Choosing a size: take your usual size for the relaxed fit it's cut for. If you usually wear women's sizes, size down one.

Sweater dress

A crewneck that didn't know when to stop. Oversized on purpose, and long enough to wear as a dress.

Sweater dress · 01 · The Sweater Dress

Oversized, mid-thigh, 380gsm washed cotton

Dropped shoulder, long sleeves that bunch at the ribbed cuff, and a ribbed hem that lands around mid-thigh. It's very generous through the body: even the S is wider than an XL Pocket Crew. Sweater Dress

Sweater dress blank in khaki on a female model: front, side, three-quarter and back views

Model: 172cm / 5'8", wearing S. Front, side, three-quarter, back.

Measurements (cm, garment laid flat)

Size S M L
Length 87 89 91
Chest (half) 68 70 72
Shoulder 63 65 67
Sleeve 53 54 55

Choosing a size: take your usual size for the oversized shape in the photos, or size down one if you want it less of a tent. Length is the thing to check: compare the length row with a dress or long jumper you already own.

Sweatpants

No fit photos for these yet either. One cut, five colours, across two listings.

Sweatpants · 01 · The Core Sweatpants

Regular leg, cuffed ankle, 530gsm

Heavyweight cotton, regular through the leg, with an elasticated drawcord waist and cuffed ankles. Same cut in Chalk and Charcoal or Black, Coffee and Forest.

Measurements (cm, garment laid flat)

Size S M L XL 2XL
Length 98 100 102 104 106
Waist (half, relaxed) 36.5 38 39.5 41 42.5
Hip (half) 52 54 56 58 60

Choosing a size: go by the hip. Both waist and hip are half-measurements, so double them for the full circumference. The waist is the elastic at rest and stretches well past that number. The hip is the one that tells you whether they'll fit.

Leggings

Close to the body from waist to ankle, in a stretch knit that gives a long way past the numbers.

Leggings · 01 · The High-Waisted Leggings

High rise, ankle length, 215gsm stretch

A wide flat waistband that stays put, a contoured seam across the back, and an ankle-length leg. Nylon-spandex, so it moves with you rather than sagging. High-Waisted Leggings

High-waisted leggings blank in khaki on a female model: front, side and back views

Model: 172cm / 5'8", wearing S. Front, side, back.

Measurements (cm, garment flat, unstretched)

Size S M L XL
Length 86 88 90 92
Waist (half) 24 26 28 30
Hip (half) 33 35 37 39

Choosing a size: go by your hip. These numbers are taken flat and unstretched, and the fabric stretches a long way past them, so they'll look small on paper. If you're between sizes, take the larger one for less compression.

Rash unders

The bit that goes under the wetsuit. Close fitting on purpose.

Rash unders · 01 · No Rash Unders

Close fit, mid-thigh, 180gsm stretch

Thin, flat through the seat, with a wide soft waistband and a leg that stops at mid-thigh, so there's nothing bunching under neoprene for two hours. No Rash Unders

No Rash Unders blank in black on a male model: front, side, three-quarter and back views

Model: 185cm / 6'1", wearing L. Front, side, three-quarter, back.

Measurements (cm, garment flat, unstretched)

Size M L XL 2XL 3XL
Length 43 44 45 46 47
Waist (half) 34 36 38 40 42
Hip (half) 37.5 39.5 41.5 43.5 45.5

Choosing a size: take your usual underwear size. The numbers are flat and unstretched, and the spandex gives a good deal more than they suggest. If you're between sizes, size up: too tight under a wetsuit is worse than slightly loose.

Kids

Sized by height in centimetres, not age. Measure the grom, not the birthday.

Kids · 01 · The Bennett Grom Tee

Relaxed, drop shoulder, quick-dry

Cut roomy on purpose, so it goes over a rash vest, under a hoodie, and gets pulled on with wet arms without a fight. The same cotton-Sorona body as our adult tees, scaled down. Bennett Grom Tee

Kids tee blank in white on a child model: front and back views

Model: 137cm / 4'6", wearing 140. Front and back.

Measurements (cm, garment laid flat)

Size 130 140 150 160 170 180
Length 54.5 58 62 66 70 74
Chest (half) 47 50 53.5 57 60.5 62.5
Sleeve 16.5 17.5 18.5 19.5 20.5 21.5

Choosing a size: pick the number closest to their height in centimetres. If they're between two, go up. It's already roomy, and they'll grow into it before you've finished putting the wetsuit away.

How to measure

The most reliable way to pick a size is to measure something you already own and like the fit of.

  1. Chest (half): lay it flat and measure straight across, from armpit seam to armpit seam.
  2. Length: from the highest point of the shoulder, where it meets the collar or hood, straight down to the hem.
  3. Shoulder: across the back, from one shoulder seam to the other.
  4. Sleeve: from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.

For sweatpants, leggings and unders:

  1. Hip (half): lay them flat and measure straight across at the widest point, just below the pockets.
  2. Waist (half): straight across the waistband without stretching it.
  3. Length: down the outside of the leg, from the top of the waistband to the bottom of the cuff.

Then find the closest number in the right table above. On tops the chest matters most. On sweatpants and leggings it's the hip. Measurements can vary by about 1–2cm from garment to garment.
